Frankenmuth which is one of the towns with a Bavarian theme town is different from every other town in Michigan. It’s like you’ve been transported back to simpler times or perhaps serene. It’s an ideal place for families to spend quality time with each other and forget about the world.
I love visiting Frankenmuth all through all year round, not just during summer.
In just 1 square mile of area, the picturesque town provides visitors with an experience of Bavaria while they walk between shops, sampling chocolates, sampling cheeses, tasting wines and, of course, eating on the famous and delicious chicken.
When it comes to chicken It is difficult to discuss Frankenmuth without talking about its famous chicken! Zehnder’s and Bavarian Inn are run by two brothers who are Mr. William Zehnder and Mr. Edwin Zehnder. Both restaurants are just across the street from one the other, and both serve the chicken dinners that you can eat all the trimmings served in the most beautiful Bavarian theme. As per the theme, friendly servers dressed in Bavarian uniforms serve your tasty food.
The Bavarian Belle Riverboat is a different Frankenmuth’s favorite. For a small amount (cash only) it is possible to enjoy a relaxing time as the captain of the river boat leads the gorgeous covered boat down the Cass River. In addition you will find that you can also enjoy the Bavarian Belle operates as a family-owned and run business. So, the father and son business strive to give you the best experience possible with every river trip. And, of course, they make delicious popcorn every time they go along the river!
As you admire the scenery and sights, the captain of the boat will show you the wildlife on the shoreline, sneeze in humorous jokes and talk about the details about the area’s history. There’s no dull moment when the captain points out the residences of famous Frankenmuth residents and discuss what is known as the Star of the West Milling Company while you take a look of their operations near the river.
Walking through Main Street is a feast for the stomach and eyes. Frankenmuth Cheese Haus draws guests of all ages to photos on a large slice of bright yellow cheese , with the mouse peeking out of the top. The hand-crafted candy, sausage and chocolate shops with huge glass windows attract interested visitors. Do not miss the secret Castle Shops located on the lower floor in The Bavarian Inn Restaurant.
The south side of Bavarian Inn Restaurant toward the east is the quaint Covered Bridge. Visitors and motorists alike are able to traverse the bridge in a safe way thanks to pedestrian walkways with walls on both sides of the bridge. Make sure to walk along each side of the bridge to take in the stunning views from Heritage Park and the beautiful downtown area. It’s a great time for you to walk across the bridge while you watch the Bavarian Belle glides by below.
The River Place Shops located at the south – facing side of Main Street offers culinary delights like SugarHigh Bakery that won Cup Cake Wars in Season 7 of Cup Cake Wars. The Popcorn Wagon for 40 flavors of tasty popcorn, along with La Crepe du Jour for homemade crepes that are sweet and savory.
The River Place Shops are full of family – owned businesses that cater to our palates, loved pets and kids. Stores for clothing, wineries as well as a distillery, and leather goods are guaranteed to please customers of all different ages. A small river that flows through the mall.
